I-26 Daytime Closures Added February 2025
SCDOT announces daytime single lane closures on I-26 from Exit 101 to Exit 85 for concrete repairs for the Midlands Connection Project. The repairs will take place over the next 6-8 weeks beginning this Monday, 2/10. SCDOT will start work on the westbound side beginning at Exit101 and ending at Exit 85. Once the westbound work is completed, SCDOT will begin eastbound repairs beginning at Exit 85 and ending at Exit 101. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.
I-26 Widening - All Lanes are Open to Traffic Added December 2024
SCDOT is excited to announce that all lanes are open to traffic for the 16 miles of widening on I-26 for the Midlands Connection Project.
- Widened I-26 from Exit 85 to Exit 97 from 4 lanes to 6 lanes
- Widened I-26 from Exit 97 to Exit 101 from 4 lanes to 8 lanes
Construction crews remain hard at work to finalize completion of Exit 97 (Broad River Rd) and Exit 91 (Columbia Ave), along with final punch list items.
Exit 97 New Diverging Diamond Interchange (10/28) Added October 2024
SCDOT announces that the new diverging diamond interchange at Exit 97 (Broad River Road) will be open to traffic on Monday, 10/28! You can see how to navigate this NEW interchange and the new ramps on the map below. As you navigate the new intersection, please observe all posted signage and law enforcement in the area.
Julius Richardson Road Closure Added October 2024
SCDOT announces a change in access from Julius Richardson Road to the I-26 Ramps near Exit 97 beginning on October 22, 2024. This access will be closed off and the only access to Julius Richardson Road will be from the intersection with West Shady Grove Road. The intersection of West Shady Grove Road and Broad River Road will be realigned with new turn lanes and the new traffic signals will be operational. View the map below to see these changes.
60mph Speed Limit Added October 2020
SCDOT announces a 60mph speed limit on I-26 from mile-marker 101 to mile-marker 85. The speed limit will begin on November 4, 2020 and last for the duration of Midlands Connection project construction. Midlands Connection is a part of SCDOT Strategic 10-Year Plan. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.
I-26 Night-Time Lane Closures Added October 2020
SCDOT announces night time lane closures on I-26 Eastbound and Westbound from mile marker 85 to mile marker 101. Lane closures will occur between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekdays and between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. on weekends. The lane closures will last throughout the construction duration for the project. Closures will be dependent on weather. SCDOT reminds the public to please use caution while driving through work zones.
